​Nathan's musical roots are in the Salvation Army. He has conducted the Bristol East Salvation Army Band, Western Winds at the Kingswood Music centre, the South Western Divisional Youth Band & Filton Concert Brass. Nathan is a graduate of Cardiff University and the Royal Academy Music and is an accomplished composer and arranger.

He was born and raised in Bristol. He grew up attending the Salvation Army at Bristol Easton where he became Young people’s band leader and later Bandmaster of the Senior Band. A recently retired primary school teacher, he lives in Downend with his wife Tracie, and his 3 children Rueben (a previous conductor of BE&K), Felicity and Charis.
